Major Development Projects
1998- PrintCafe/Programmed Solution's Printing Management
System
On-going effort to develop and maintain an ERP
software system. Major contributions have included the timely implementation
of MS SQL support for a FoxPro application, including migration tools; a major
initiative to convert over 120 report programs to SQL stored procedures and extending
the legacy database schema, including new "custom field" capability,
relational integrity, and schema validation and maintenance tools. Senior
Developer
1996-98 Client/Server Restaurant/Delivery Customer & Order Management
Software
Create a SQL client/server software product to
facilitate daily operation of take-out food service company. Sole
Programmer.
1994-99 Client/Server Constituent Management & Fundraising System
Project to convert a 1980s system to Client/Server
using PowerBuilder and an SQL engine. Emphasis is on providing staff with the ability to
analyze donor trends and target donors more efficiently. Project Leader, Main
Programmer.
1993 Effort Analysis Project
A personnel cost and effort analysis project used by an
efficiency consultant and administrators as part of an efficiency/downsizing study. A true
case of RAD, the application was developed (in FoxPro 2.6 for Windows) while the data was
being collected. It was then refined to manipulate the data to produce reports requested
by the efficiency consultant. The entire project took less than 8 weeks. Sole
Programmer.
1993 THRUST
A Human Resources database project, created by others.
Intended as a FoxPro 2.5 system, the original programming team had attempted to base the
application on code from an earlier (1980's) application. The project was salvaged through
over 120 hours of work in about 10 days. Both the application foundation and most of the
user interfaces were recreated. Sole Programming Consultant.
1987-1993 ConnectPac®
A large system designed to integrate microcomputers, IBM
mainframes, and Novell and IBM PC LAN servers. ConnectPac featured software
metering--including sharing licenses across multiple LANs via an IBM mainframe--and data
routing between PCs and mainframe printers. Approved by NY State as the first means of
sharing educational software between K-12 schools, ConnectPac was used in nearly 100
schools across NY and in several colleges and universities. Project Leader, Systems
Programmer.
1985-1988 AESOP & DBMS1
Spreadsheet and Relational Database system
designed for use by colleges and universities to teach database concepts on
IBM mainframes. Designed before dBASEIII was available, DBMS1 included
relational and multi-user capabilities. These product were used by over 20
colleges and universities, not only for instruction but for some
administrative tasks (one of which was still running in 1994). Project
Leader, Main Programmer.
